US History Students - BEWARE!!!!

If you were in class on the last day before the break, do not mistake that homework pass for something you can use on a TESTYou cannot.  I see just ONE of you has started/completed the Castle Learning Test that is due when we get back from the break.

IF YOU DO NOT DO THE TEST, YOU WILL GET A ZERO.  PERIOD.

HOMEWORK passes are not valid for TESTS.

GET MOVING OR GET A ZERO.  The laziness MUST stop...I would think a look at those averages would have inspired those of you who needed it to work towards passing with just 3 weeks to go in the marking period.  Those of you currently passing may not be after a ZERO is added in for this exam should you not do it/pass it.

NO EXCUSES.

A Correction...

For those of you in school/class tomorrow, this is important:

The piece of paper you will get says "Global II" on it.  It is meant for all of the courses I teach, so don't panic (or anything else) when you are in a different course & think it doesn't apply to you.  It does.

Let this be a lesson to you all - stepping back & thinking things through is never a waste of time.  I failed my own motto of "do it once, do it right."  See, even I make mistakes.  Usually dumb ones like this.

Totally confused?  You'll understand tomorrow after class.  Not in class?  Then you'll remain confused. :)

P.S.  Don't forget to do your homework...there are only 3 weeks left in the marking period!

MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS & GUARDIANS

Dear Parents & Guardians:

Please be advised that all students in all courses today received a pre-printed "progress report" for you to sign (even if the grades were good ones.)  There are roughly just 3 weeks left in the current marking period.  For all classes, the current homework packet was not included, which will help or harm your student's average as listed based on what they did - or did not - turn in.

These averages are an accurate reflection of your student's written work.  Participation in class cannot be measured in numbers like test grades, so it is not included.  In many cases, this factor will improve a student's average.

Please discuss any/all weak areas with your student so he/she may improve their chances of passing the marking period, course, and Regents Exam.  We will be entering Week 17 of 40, and we really only 37 weeks of school at the HS due to Finals & Regents Exams.  Effectively, the year is just about half over.

Please fell free to email me with any questions you may have.  You are certainly welcome to call the front office & leave a message, but email will likely get you a quicker response since the access to it is easier than getting to a phone on my free period during the day.  Since this is a public site I am not posting my email or front office number, but this information has been sent home in the past and can be easily found online.

Thank you for your help in making your student successful.

Chapter 7 Test
Test is set up in Castle Learning (online.)  The test will be “open” as of 12/11 and will “close” on 12/19.  There is no make-up since it is online.  If you fail to complete the exam by 12/19 you will receive a score of zero.  If you do not have a Castle Learning Username &/or password you must see someone in the Computer Lab BEFORE VACATION!
Wed., 12/19
TEST GRADE!!

Test “live” only from 12/11-12/19!
Only work done in the proper format will receive full credit.  Work not done as directed may receive partial credit or no credit at all.  If you do not do your homework, you will fail the marking period even if you have good quiz & test grades.  Consult your Expectations letter for weights and percentages of each category.

If you are legally absent from class your homework is expected on your first day back, including all work already scheduled to be due that day or it will be considered late.  Late work may not be accepted, and work that is accepted will be for a maximum of half credit (so no higher than a 50.)  If you cut class, you cannot turn in your homework, you get an automatic zero on anything due that day.

Want to pass?  Show up, on time, every day, prepared.  Behave.  Participate in a positive and effective manner.  Do all homework and classwork.  Study for all tests & quizzes.  Stay for extra help as needed.  It’s really that simple.

You need your Castle Learning username & password for the Chapter 7 Test since it’s online.  If you don’t have it or know it, get to a Computer Lab by 12/11 to find out this information!

This Friday, 2:05 - 2:45 PM.  Bus passes will be provided.

TEST DATES HAVE CHANGED!!!!

The following scheduled GLOBAL exams have been changed as noted.  This only affects those tests listed, everything else is still due or being given on the dates listed on your current homework packet.  Nothing has changed for US History students.

Global I: Chapter 6 Exam, scheduled for Tuesday, will be given on WEDNESDAY, 12/5.

Global II:  Chapter 26 Exam, scheduled for Tuesday, will be given on WEDNESDAY, 12/5.

Any homework already due on 12/5 is STILL DUE on 12/5.  Consider doing it early and turning it on on 12/4, since you do not have homework due on that date.
