ATTENTION ALL GLOBAL CLASSES!!

Tonight on the History Channel is the next episode of "Mankind: The Story of All of Us."  Last week's episode was fantastic as far as information & review go.  It isn't often that I can say that about a program.  Better, a good 85-90% of what they showed has been on past Regents Exams.

Whether you're in Global I or II, it is worth your time to watch it.  I re-watched episode 1 "on demand" - it was free (I have Optimum.)  If you have this option at home, take advantage of it - especially as we prepare to have yet another break from school.

(Anyone else feel like we've been off more than we've been in class??)

Global II Extra Credit & Test Review

For those of you who (a) want some extra Chapter 25 test practice/review &/or (b) have parents making you do any work I list here...

I put up a review assignment on Castle Learning.  It is NOT mandatory to complete, but I will count it as extra credit.  It's basically an online test, so you'll get practice for Tuesday's test, a sneak-peak at the questions on the test, and get extra credit.

Plus I bet your Mom/Dad will make you do it if she/he sees it, and there's nothing I love more than parents who make their kids work hard at school.  :)  (Shocker, I know.)

Remember - you can lose every last possession you have, but nothing can take your education from you.  You carry it with you everywhere you go for as long as you live.  So stop complaining about homework.  It's for your own good.  :)

Global I Homework: 11/20-12/4/12

Students will receive this packet in class on Monday, 11/19.

TEST TODAY!!
Only work done in the proper format will receive full credit.  Work not done as directed may receive partial credit or no credit at all.  If you do not do your homework, you will fail the marking period even if you have good quiz & test grades.  Consult your Expectations letter for weights and percentages of each category.

If you are legally absent from class your homework is expected on your first day back, including all work already scheduled to be due that day or it will be considered late.  Late work may not be accepted, and work that is accepted will be for a maximum of half credit (so no higher than a 50.)  If you cut class, you cannot turn in your homework, you get an automatic zero on anything due that day.

Want to pass?  Show up, on time, every day, prepared.  Behave.  Participate in a positive and effective manner.  Do all homework and classwork.  Study for all tests & quizzes.  Stay for extra help as needed.  It’s really that simple.

Global II: Homework 11/21-12/4

This packet will be handed out in class Monday or Tuesday of next week, the same day I receive it back from the copy center.

"Mankind: The Story of All of Us"

Especially for you Global II kiddos who love to tell me how much you didn't learn in Global I...you know who you are.  Yes, you, periods 2 & 6.  I'm pointing my finger right at you through the screen.

"Mankind: The Story of All of Us" starts tonight on the History Channel, 9 pm.  Since it's new I haven't seen it before so I can't tell you if it's worthwhile.  However, based on the really great mini-series type programs the History Channel has been running over the last year I'm guessing it will be a good one.

More improtantly, it will likely be informative and accurrate.

And guess what that means?  GLOBAL I REVIEW.  It's history.  It goes "in order."  Tonight should be decent Global I stuff (again, I'm *assuming.*)  If it isn't, at least you were off your phones for 2 hours.

Parents:  The show runs from 9-11 pm, kind of late for a school night.  I am not assigning the show for homework or any type of credit.  However, if it doesn't interfere with the bedtime routines in your house, please consider letting your student watch it (or some of it.)  Students can't get enough Regents Review, and it's never too early to start.

Rescheduled Quiz & Test Dates - all classes

The quiz & test dates that had to be rescheduled due to the unexpected 6 days off for Hurricane Sandy are as follows:

Global II:
Ch. 25 Vocabulary Quiz is on Monday, 11/19.
Ch. 25 Test is on Tuesday, 11/20.
As always, blue or black pen required.
Make ups for legal absences is 2:05 pm on Wednesday, 11/21.

Global I:
Ch. 5 Vocabulary Quiz is on Monday, 11/19.
Ch. 5 Test is on Tuesday, 11/20.
As always, blue or black pen required.
Make ups for legal absences is 2:05 pm on Wednesday, 11/21.

US History & Government:
Ch. 5 Test opened on Sunday, 11/11 in Castle Learning.  It will close on Monday, 11/19.  There is no make up for this exam since it is online and available for 9 days.
This test was delayed to ensure students had power and Internet access so everyone had the same time frame & opportunity to complete the assignment.

Global I & Global II will not have a new homework packet this week.
US History & Government have a new one with work starting due tomorrow (11/14.)

US History & Govt: Homework Packet 11/14-11/28/12

NOTE:  The Chapter 6 Section 1 questions due on Wednesday, 11/14 will be distributed in class tomorrow, 11/13.  Students will be given this homework packet with all work in class on 11/14 (providing all goes well with the copy center.)  In the meantime, they will be given the work due on the 14th tomorrow so we can regain a sense of normalcy after the last 2 weeks!  All Castle Learning assignments opened up yesterday, 11/11, and will close on the dates indicated below.
