US History: Extra Credit (due Monday, 9/30!)

Want some extra credit? Using this video as a basis for your work, write a 1-2 page paper on the causes of the American Revolution. This is due no later than Monday, 9/30. It must be handwritten and remember...if you copy from somewhere I'll know! Use your own words based on what you've learned!

PS...I'm not giving you extra credit if you don't turn in all work due on Monday.  It's called "EXTRA credit," not "Make up zero's work."

Power Points no longer available tomorrow!

Please remember that all Power Points currently on Engrade for all classes will be removed tomorrow morning.  You have had 3 days to copy anything you missed.  This is the time limit to copy notes as discussed in class.

Remember, you must HAND COPY THEM into your notes.  If I see printouts during your NOTE QUIZZES I will remove them, confiscate them, and delete you from my class on Engrade.

(Yes, I can do that.  I am not required to use Engrade, I am not required to give you access to what I use, I only have to use some sort of grade book.)

Global II Parents, this is for you!

Please be advised that your student's review for Monday's Exam was posted in Quizlet on September 19th.  This has given them 11 days prior to the exam to review.  As explained to all students, I use prior Regents questions on my exams, they are given at Regents pace (1 question per minute determines how much time they get for the exam), and no extra time is given unless the student has an IEP allowing that.

I do not drop the lowest grade, and it appears from the Quizlet site that practically no one has signed into the review.  I am posting this for you because, as I warned the students, it is my belief that students who do not study will fail.  I base this on the last 15 years of teaching this course.

Please encourage your student to study.  The test is challenging but based on the information covered in class and on the assigned homework.

Thank you for your assistance in helping make your student as successful as possible!

If you don't have access to Power Point, read this!

Mr. Murphy had a suggestion for those of you without Power Point on your computers.  He said it works for phones & tablets since it's an app, but it might work for computers as well.  Best part?  It's free.

It's called "documents to go."  Do a Google search for it, see which one will work best for you, & download it.  I did the search and a bunch came up.  With it, you can read power points in Engrade.

I hope this is helpful!

Almost time for a whole mess of failures...

That's right?  Why?  Because you have a 9 PM deadline to sign into Engrade, access my class, and make sure you can view the power point notes.  I have responded to everyone who posted a comment that they had difficulty up to the time of this post.  I will continue to monitor that post for more signs of trouble until 8:45 PM, at which time I am signing out of the blog.

15 minutes later I will enter 1 of 2 grades for each of you - 100 or 0.

If you were LEGALLY absent today you will have a grace period until tomorrow night.  If you were truant or cutting...sorry.  That's what we call "consequences of your actions."

Get on it, you have just over an hour.

Edited at 8:28 PM:
As of 8:28 PM the following students are signed up with a grade of 100:
Period 2: Andrez, Brenda, Carolina, Claudia, Claudio, Debora, Jawad, Jonathan, Naqi, Raja, Shakeira, Tatiana

Period 3: Alyssa, Ana, Christina, Diego, Edgar G, Edwin R, Karen, Lourdes, Nicholas

Period 4: Bryan, Destiny, Erik, George, iris, Ismael, Jerick, Leon, Melanie, Meybel, both Oscars, Samantha, Shamirah, Yajaira, Ivan S, Julio

Period 6: Alicia, Bekr, Dayana, Erik, Evelyn, Giuseppe, Jasmine, Justine, Karen, Keisha, Kevin, Keyanae, Maria, Rocio, Sabdriel, Yanelis, Luis

Period 7: Alysha, Anthony, Ashley, Christopher, Danny, Jose, Kenverly, Keysy, Michael, Nicole, Sabrina, Patrick, Paola

New Plan - try this!

New plan...I have posted your power point notes in the "Calendar" section on Engrade for each class.  You should be able to click & open.  Let me know how that works, especially if you are having trouble finding them under the "APP" & "FILES" tabs.

US History: ALSO DUE MONDAY, 9/30...JUST ADDED!!!!!!

Go to the following Power Point presentation and copy it into your notes.  It belongs in Chapter 4. You will have a "did you do it" quiz on it Monday, 9/30.  I will ask you questions about the notes and you will copy your answers from those notes.

PPT – Albany Plan of Union PowerPoint presentation | free to view

You do NOT have to write to "Do now."

You DO have to have a picture of the flag taped into your notes.  Print out a copy (or do a Google search for that cartoon) and tape it into your notes.

ALL STUDENTS!!!!!

Remember to add a comment to THIS POST if you have difficulty registering with or accessing me on Engrade.  If you do NOT post such a comment by 9 PM tonight I will assume you failed to do as assigned & grade you accordingly.  Don't forget your first and last name PLUS class period or your comment will be invalid.

PS - I have posted the web addresses for this blog, quizlet, castle Learning, & your textbook online in the "discussions" section of Engrade for each class period.

Engrade...time for YOU to teach ME

Ok, all you people who keep asking me about Engrade.  I can't figure it out.  If you know how it works or have any tips you can give me, please post them in the comment section below.  I will look into it again so I can put the notes online.  HOWEVER, if I see people not copying notes in class & using this as a crutch or excuse I will delete the notes faster than you can say "that's grimy."  See, I do speak some "teenage" after all.....

Global II: Quiz & Test Updates

US History Homework: Due Friday, 9/20

For all three handouts (The Magna Carta, The House of Burgesses, and The Mayflower Compact):

1.  Highlight the important information (not color, highlight!)  Use this as your guide: you should only highlight the information that you think is important enough to make it into your chart - nothing more.

2.  On separate paper, answer the questions on all of the sheets.  Heading like below, questions written out the questions restated as the beginning on your answer, in standard blue or black pen...or you have wasted your time.

The following heading must be used on all assignments to gain credit for your work:

YOUR NAME                                                                     SUBJECT
ASSIGNMENT TITLE (on each assignment)                  CLASS PERIOD

You must write out all questions AND answer in complete sentences for work to be accepted!
All work to be complete on “loose-leaf” or notebook paper!

3.  You will turn in the questions since they cannot be on the handouts.  You will keep the handouts and use them during class.  Have a highlighter, since you got a zero in class today if you still didn't have one.

Global II: Homework Cover Sheet through September 25th

Packet was handed out in class on September 17th.  Extras are in the back of the room.
