This is it - Pass or Fail season has arrived!!

In case you still haven't figured it out, it is very difficult to pass a course once you have failed 2 marking periods in a course in any given school year.  This means that if you have failed the 1st & 2nd marking period you will need an average of 85-90 for the last 2 marking periods as well as that score on your Regents Exam or Final, depending on the class you're in.  Is it possible?  I don't know, to be honest - that all depends on you.  If you do a complete turn-around, do your work, pass your quizzes/tests, come to class prepared, on time, daily...you have a good shot.

If you are "barely passing" (which means 65-75), even just ONE failing average for a marking period can cause you to fail the course for the year.

If you have passed one and failed one marking period so far, you simply cannot afford another failing - or even low average - marking period.

THIS MEANS:
- Start doing your homework, or you will fail.
- Start studying for tests, or you will fail.
- Start staying for extra help, so you don;t fail.

Remember, I don't give you grades.  I tell the school computer system what grades YOU have given ME via your homework, quizzes, tests, class work,, and participation.

If you don't expect to fail, don't give me failing grades to record.  It's as simple as that.

HOMEWORK QUIZZES in US HISTORY TOMORROW!

US History students - remember to do your HW!  MANY of you failed the 2nd marking period because of a combination of your lack of effort, class work, homework, and poor quiz/test scores.

You are having a quiz on your homework tomorrow.  In face, you are having TWO quizzes on the homework due tomorrow.  It will be as easy as "copy off yourself" so no actual studying involved - just your work.  Work that is identical to the work of others was clearly copied off someone (or you let someone copy, which is just as bad), so each person will get a zero on the quiz should that happen.

I warned your before regents Week, I'm warning you again...

Extra Credit Updates

The death of my grandmother last night will likely delay the posting of extra credit in all courses.

I will post what I can, when I can, this weekend.  Check back through Sunday night for anything I have added.  There may be more than one opportunity per course.

As a reminder, extra credit means "in addition to my other work."  It does NOT mean "work I can do to make up for the zero I got on the work I failed to turn in."  If you do not do your classwork, homework, or come to school, you are not eligible for extra credit.

US History test closes in 5 hours!

No joke - as stated on your homework sheet, this is a DOUBLE TEST GRADE, it opened on 12/20, and will close before midnight TONIGHT.  I have had no trouble logging into Castle Learning today, and since 10 more people have done the exam since school ended, any problems anyone had are clearly resolved.

Half of you have NOT done or completed the test.  If you plan to fail the marking period, this is a good way to accomplish it.  Since your goal should always be to PASS, with GOOD GRADES, I suggest you get working if you haven;t started/completed the test yet.  You had 14 days, notes, a textbook, and any online source you can think of to help you.

As I said verbally & in writing, there will be no extensions.  Grades from the test go into my grade book tomorrow.  make yours a good one instead of something that looks like a circle.
