To recap our "of Regents value" movie list so far, at some point in the next two months you should have watched:
Gandhi (because every single moments of that video is worthwhile and on your Regents!)
The Killing Fields (for human rights violations in Cambodia)
Not Without My Daughter (for the Iranian Revolution, Islamic Fundamentalism, and how it affected Iranians)
There are other movies of value. Like "Not Without My Daughter," the plot of the movie is not important. It's what the movie shows about the changes, society, & historical circumstances that are of value. Some include:
The Last Samurai (for the Meiji Era)
The Last Emperor (for changes in China, Opium issues, spheres of influence)
Here is a little tip to those of you reading this site regularly...Mr. Ullrich is running a weekly program on Wednesdays where he shows movies valuable to the Global Regents Exam. You must be recommended by me, invited by him, and he must have room to add you. If you commit to this and don't show up, you will not be allowed to participate in the future. If you do your homework, you come to class, you do your classwork, and you are clearly making an effort, see me. I will see if Mr. Ullrich has an opening. Post a comment here so I know you might be interested and plan to see me about this on Monday.
Now go write your paper! :)
